LIFE Water Factory Wilp
The LIFE Water Factory is a new purification concept where crystal clear water is made to combat the current and future freshwater shortage. Where raw materials are extracted without a negative impact on the living environment. This all-in-one treatment is realized in collaboration with many partners and will be located in Wilp.

What is the LIFE Water Factory
We are building two treatment plants for the Voorst region. One at the current location in Terwolde and a treatment plant at Wilp, south of the A1. As a result, the sewage water will soon not have to travel great distances through sewer pipes and pressure pipes. At the same time we can provide the Twellos stream with clean water.
Raw materials and clean water
With the development of the LIFE Water Factory, we are achieving two objectives . Clean water in the Twellos stream and future-proof water treatment. An all-in-one treatment with which we extract all raw materials that we can possibly extract from the sewage water and process them into usable raw materials. Which we then use in a circular system/economy.

At the same time, rainwater is treated separately in a natural system. As a result, the technical installation is much smaller and we can also effectively remove micro-contamination such as medicines and microplastics. The clean water from the LIFE Water Factory will be used to feed the Twellos stream.

How does the LIFE Water Factory work
We develop an all-in-one treatment in Wilp. This Water Factory fits into the environment and is circular. A LIFE Water Factory that:
- provides clean water as the largest raw material;
- collects rainwater at the front separately, which is purified in a natural way;
- only purifies waste water;
- recovers all raw materials from the wastewater and uses it in a circular manner;
- does not destroy substances;
- is being developed with partners and parties from the immediate area.

Cooperation
Within this project we work closely together with Aquaminerals and STOWA. From this collaboration we receive a European subsidy from the LIFE program.
In addition, we work together with the municipality of Voorst and we explicitly seek cooperation with partners and various other environmental and knowledge parties.
