Working circularly in 2050
With the water factory, Vallei en Veluwe is taking an important step to be fully circular in 2050. This includes separate collection and processing of sewage and rain water, so that the rain water no longer has to go through the purification system. Part of the purified water from the water factory is used to supply the Twellos stream with water, so that this stream again contains sufficient water of good quality. The new water plant extracts no less than 75% more nitrogen and phosphate from the polluted water than a regular purification plant. The aim is also to remove 80% of the drug residues, to keep 90% less sludge and to use 90% fewer chemicals.
Pilot project and collaboration
In this project, Vallei en Veluwe cooperates with the municipality of Voorst, the Province of Gelderland and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management. Collaboration also takes place with the companies Attero and Schoneveld Breeding and the knowledge partners Aquaminerals, STOWA and Wageningen University & Research (WUR). Witteveen + Bos and Royal HaskoningDHV, as a construction team, will first carry out a pilot with Vallei en Veluwe to test whether the innovative idea is practically feasible. They will also start working on the further design of the installations. In addition, a suitable location is being sought on and near the Schoneveld Breeding and Attero companies on the Sluinerweg in Wilp.
